Madonna revives ‘Like a Virgin’ bridal look
Madonna has revisited her iconic “Like a Virgin” era styling more than four decades on, appearing in bridal lingerie as part of a new Dolce & Gabbana campaign. The 67-year-old pop star shared images from a shoot in Milan, Italy, where she performed on a small stage in a look designed to echo her famous 1984 MTV Video Music Awards appearance.
In Milan, Madonna sang “La Bambola” by Patty Pravo wearing a white corset, lace-up hot pants, fishnet tights and a sweeping veil with matching lace gloves, Page Six reported.
The outlet said the singer also posted a series of Instagram photos from the set with the caption “Una Notte D’amore”, which translates as “a night of love”. The styling was completed with a diamond cross necklace, a white fur coat and patent leather heels, in a nod to the bridal motif that defined her early “Like a Virgin” imagery.
The appearance follows other recent Dolce & Gabbana connections for Madonna, and comes after previous headlines including when she declared “I stand with Iran” during protests in a separate public statement shared in earlier coverage.
Page Six also noted celebrity reactions in the comments, including messages from Ms Debi Mazar and Ms Rosie O’Donnell, while fans referenced lyrics from the singer’s 1984 hit. Madonna has frequently incorporated lingerie into her wardrobe in recent months, with the latest campaign fuelling speculation about whether she may revisit further signature looks from her back catalogue.
