Prince William ‘Held Grudge’ Over Andrew Snub
Prince William has reportedly held a long-running grudge against his uncle, the former Prince Andrew, after Andrew was said to be “unwelcoming” to Catherine, Princess of Wales when she was first introduced to royal life.
People reported that journalist Mr Richard Kay previously said the tension between the Prince of Wales and Andrew partly stems from the way Andrew treated Catherine early on, and that William feels his father, King Charles, has been too soft on his younger brother amid ongoing scandal.
Royal biographer Mr Andrew Lownie told the publication that Andrew “wasn’t nice when Kate came into the family” and believed she “wasn’t posh enough”, pointing to Catherine’s “commoner” background. Lownie also said status has been central to Andrew’s sense of identity, and claimed William wants Andrew “dealt with” before William eventually becomes king.
The latest claims about family tensions come as scrutiny continues around Andrew’s position within the monarchy, with previous reporting suggesting he has been under pressure since renewed attention on his controversies. In recent weeks, Britpop News reported that Prince Andrew was said to be “turning to God” after an arrest, as the fallout for the wider royal family continued.
People said William’s concerns intensified after Andrew’s 2019 Newsnight interview and that the Prince of Wales has argued there is “absolutely no upside” in protecting him, as each fresh allegation or revelation risks further reputational damage for the Royal Family.
