Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders recently joined Dan O’Connell on Radio X and spoke about the band’s contribution to the new War Child charity album and put any rumors regarding the group’s future to rest.
Speaking on The Evening Show, Helders highlighted that despite it being 20 years since their debut album, the band’s internal dynamic remains as strong as ever.
Helders said, “I don’t think there’s necessarily a trick to it. No one’s sick of each other in this band. Everyone would be with each other socially. The fact that that relationship is still there will always bring us back together in one way or another.”
The band also recently contributed the original track ‘Opening Night’ to the latest War Child compilation. Helders revealed that while the group initially considered recording a cover, they quickly pivoted to original material.

When asked by O’Connell if fans could expect a live show similar to their 2020 Royal Albert Hall performance for the charity, Helders hinted that talks are likely happening behind the scenes.
“I’m sure the people behind the scenes are thinking about doing something like that again,” he noted. “This kind of thing often comes hand in hand with some special occasion.”
