Meghan Markle ‘biggest worry’ over UK return is hostile press, claims report
Meghan Markle is said to be weighing a return to the UK this year, with a report claiming her main concern is the intensity of negative media coverage and her low public approval. The Duchess of Sussex has not visited Britain since 2022, but Prince Harry is expected to travel back in the summer for a one-year-to-go event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Express reported that sources told Radar Online the Duchess’s “biggest worry is not logistics or protocol” but anticipated “press attention and negativity”, with one source claiming she feels the media climate in the UK “has only hardened” towards her.
The report also cited a second source describing the Duchess as “acutely aware” of hostility from sections of the British press, saying that “level of animosity would inevitably make any return difficult and uncomfortable”. It added that security considerations remain part of the picture, with another source previously telling the Daily Express she has concerns about “really nasty trolls”.
The discussion around a possible trip comes amid wider scrutiny of the couple’s UK plans, including reports about how Meghan Markle has approached Prince Harry’s summer return for the Invictus countdown engagement.
Prince Harry has continued to make trips back to Britain for court proceedings and charity commitments, but any decision by the Duchess to join him would likely draw intense attention, with questions remaining over security arrangements and how the visit would be managed in the current media climate.
