Queen Camilla Wears Queen Elizabeth’s Beloved Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara
Queen Camilla brought one of the Royal Family’s most iconic jewels back into the spotlight at the Windsor state banquet, choosing the famed Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The moment was captured by Yahoo News UK, which noted the tiara’s deep association with Queen Elizabeth II.
The tiara, gifted to Queen Mary in 1893 and later passed to Elizabeth II, is instantly recognisable to millions—it appeared on countless portraits and even featured on British currency. Camilla paired it with a deep green lace gown by Fiona Clare and the Greville emerald and diamond necklace, creating a richly traditional royal ensemble.
This marked Camilla’s first appearance in the piece since 2023. By wearing such a historic and beloved tiara, the Queen Consort underscored continuity within the monarchy during a period marked by health challenges for both King Charles and the Princess of Wales.
The dual tiara appearances from Camilla and Kate at the same banquet provided a rare display of royal jewellery heritage—one rooted in the past but still central to the monarchy’s public image today.
