Princess Kate Debuts Her Largest-Ever Tiara at Windsor State Banquet
Princess Kate delivered a spectacular royal fashion moment at this week’s Windsor Castle state banquet, wearing Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara—believed to be the largest headpiece she has ever worn. The historic choice was confirmed by People.
The tiara, originally crafted by Garrard in 1853 under Prince Albert’s supervision, was designed with thousands of diamonds and originally set with opals before being reset with rubies. It has not been seen on a royal head in nearly 20 years, last worn publicly by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005. According to The New Daily, the piece is estimated to be worth around £6.5 million.
Kate paired the tiara with a shimmering blue Jenny Packham gown and Queen Elizabeth II’s earrings, creating one of her most dramatic formal looks to date. The event, held in honour of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, marked a significant return to high-profile royal duties following her cancer treatment.
The unveiling of the Oriental Circlet was seen not only as a fashion statement but as a symbolic moment, aligning Kate with the regal legacy of Victoria and Elizabeth II as she steps further into her role as the future Queen Consort.
