William and Kate’s Planned July 4th U.S. Visit May Sideline Harry & Meghan, Reports Suggest

Prince William and Princess Kate are reportedly preparing a high-profile trip to the United States for the 250th anniversary of American independence—without any plans to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The story, first reported by Cosmopolitan, suggests royal advisers anticipate “significant complications” if the couples were to appear together.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to participate in diplomatic events, charity engagements and formal commemorations during their U.S. visit. However, sources told the outlet the schedule does not include travel to California or any coordination with the Sussexes, continuing a clear pattern of separation between the two households.

Analysts note that such a snub—intentional or not—may deepen the perception of distance between the brothers, especially following years of tension fuelled by interviews, Harry’s memoir and public criticism of palace operations. The July visit is viewed as a major soft-power moment for the monarchy, and some insiders reportedly fear the Sussex drama could overshadow the purpose of the trip.

The Sussexes have not commented on the report, but observers expect renewed debate about how the Royal Family balances international diplomacy with the ongoing dynamics between its most talked-about members. With the U.S. anniversary approaching, attention will now shift to how both sides navigate the optics.
