John Lydon recently opened up on Morrissey’s decision to call off his Latin American tour via Rock Celebrities.
Morrissey announced the cancellation of his entire Latin American tour, including a scheduled show on November 8th at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires. He cited extreme exhaustion as the reason. Speaking with Urbana Play 104.3 FM, Lydon was asked about his thoughts on the matter. He Lydon offered a pointed critique of the decision and called Morrissey soft.
“Hah, I think the poor, soft man,” Lydon said. “I think it’s more exhausting trying to sit at home and watch television. I’m the kind of person that I can’t stop thinking. I have ideas, continuously. And I must act on that energy. And I’m only 69.”
The 69-year-old suggested that remaining active and engaged is less taxing than the alternative.
The previous announcement about Morrissey’s show cancellation read, “We inform the public that, due to extreme exhaustion of the artist, Morrissey’s tour of Latin America will not take place, including the show scheduled for November 8th at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires.”
Lydon recently finished an extensive “talking tour,” a series of 68 stand-up comedy-style talks he gave across Great Britain. Next year, the former Sex Pistols singer will visit Argentina with a powerful repertoire drawing from his 11 albums for a tour titled “This Is Not the Last Tour.” They will play in Rosario on April 10th , at C Art Media in Buenos Aires on the 11th , and in Mar del Plata on the 12th.
