Jon Bon Jovi recently revealed what it felt like to see the Oasis reuniting and playing live. He added that the audience witnessed a rock band with “no tricks” via Ultimate-Guitar.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher feuded for almost fifteen years, but finally reunited in 2024. They announced an Oasis reunion tour, and the fans went crazy, buying out the tickets in mere minutes. Scalpers and ticket sellers had a field day, raising prices to absurd heights. Were the shows worth the ticket prices?
According to Jon Bon Jovi, Oasis showed everyone how a real rock band should behave.
“I enjoyed it immensely,” he told Virgin Radio UK.
“But also, I needed to go and smell a rock and roll band, you know? I just needed to be out there and see what a rock band looked like on a stage again.”
“They were really good. They played great. They sang great. They sounded great. And like I said, this was a much bigger venue than they’ve ever played in America. First time I saw them live, and they were really good.”
Bon Jovi then continued that audiences don’t want theater so much anymore. They want the true, direct rock experience. He said that all the aspects of the show were wonderful, especially the guitar tones. He noted that while some songs were less familiar to American audiences, the crowd still loved the performance.
“People really want a rock band again,” he said. “No dancers, no tricks, no loops, no recorded stuff. They wanted to hear a rock band.”
“I’m telling you, the guitar tones alone were worth the price of admission. And they both sang great. And you know, the songs that the Americans know…you got to remember now, they’re not as well known in America, and I don’t mean that in any derogatory way. Like a third of the material – the general punter, not me, I know all the songs – but the audiences ate it up. They loved it.”
