Football legend David Beckham might have a substantial net worth. However, it’s dwarfed by the wealth amassed by his former team-mate Mathieu Flamini since he retired via Manchester Evening News. The pair shared the pitch during Beckham’s two loan stints at AC Milan.
The former England captain was one of the most marketable athletes in the world during his playing career. At 50 years old, his ability to seize sponsorship opportunities and explore various income sources has arguably paved the way for Cristiano Ronaldo’s rise to billionaire status.
Throughout his career, Beckham accumulated a substantial fortune in earnings, including the impressive sums from his contract with LA Galaxy. He continues to benefit from numerous sponsorship deals and his ownership stake in the Major League Soccer franchise, Inter Miami.
When he signed with the Galaxy in 2007, Beckham was given the option to purchase an expansion team. Inter Miami entered MLS in 2020 and has since gained global recognition, particularly after signing Lionel Messi. The club is now estimated to be worth over $1 billion (£760 million).
As per the 2025 Sunday Times Rich List, David and his wife Victoria Beckham have a combined net worth of £500m. However, this sum is modest compared to the wealth that former Arsenal midfielder Flamini has accumulated since co-founding GFBiochemicals.
He spent seven years with Arsenal across two spells, making a total of 246 appearances. In addition to Arsenal, he played for Marseille, AC Milan, Crystal Palace, and Getafe before retiring in 2019. Although Flamini earned significant wages during his football career, it is the biochemical company he founded in 2008 that has led to his extraordinary wealth as a three-time France international.
