Kevin Federline recently opened up on the “final straw” in his marriage to pop icon Britney Spears via PEOPLE.
In the former dancer’s new memoir, You Thought You Knew, he recalled allegedly getting a call from his then-wife as she was hanging out with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, with her and Federline’s sons Sean Preston and Jayden James in the background.
Federline claimed feeling “crushed” by “late-night calls” and that he’d receive them from her while she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol “with the sound of my kids crying in the background.”
The author recalled feeling “crushed” by the alleged calls — especially one in particular, when he was working in Miami and Spears was hanging out with Hilton, and Lohan, “drunk as hell, begging me to come over,” he wrote.
As per Federline’s claims, the call came in the early morning hours, and Preston, now, and Jayden, could be heard “crying in the background.” At the time, he’d “already seen” the now-iconic photos of Spears, Hilton and Lohan partying together, but getting the call felt like his “final straw,” per the book.
“Any deep-seated sliver of hope that I’d held onto, that we might still somehow pull it together for the kids, died right then,” wrote Federline. “It wasn’t a one-time thing, either. It was all part of that reckless pattern.”
Federline wrote in the memoir that at the time he felt Spears “wasn’t ready to change” and he was done “waiting for her” to do so.
Spears previously wrote about the “supposedly crazy night” with Hilton and Lohan in her 2023 memoir, The Woman In Me. At the time, she claimed she’d been staying at a beach house with her mom, Lynne Spears, who took care of Preston and Jayden while she, Hilton and Lohan went out and got “drunk” together.
According to Spears, the night ended in a “huge fight” between her and Lynne. However, “I’d had her babysit so I could go out responsibly, without the kids seeing their mother under the influence,” wrote the “Toxic” singer.
