Meghan Markle has shared some news about her Netflix show’s future. At the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, said that a “holiday special” will be released in November. However, she didn’t confirm whether With Love, Meghan will have a third season.
“The holiday special is coming out in November,” Meghan said. “It’s really good. After two seasons and eight episodes, it’s been a lot of work.” She added that after spending seven years on Suits, she knows how much effort goes into making a show.
With Love, Meghan is a lifestyle series filmed in Montecito, California, featuring celebrity guests like Mindy Kaling and Chrissy Teigen.
The show hasn’t done well with critics, both the first season, released on March 4, and the second season, released on August 26, received poor reviews and didn’t make Netflix’s top 10 list.
At the event, Meghan said she’s exploring new ways to connect with viewers. “People like content in different lengths,” she explained. “It’s great to have a 30-minute show, but how can I share a recipe in two minutes? I’m exploring all the ways that could work.”
Meghan and Prince Harry first signed a $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020. They renewed the agreement in August, though the new deal is reportedly smaller.
Meghan explained that their old contract was similar to the Obamas’ Netflix deal. Now, they have a “first-look deal,” meaning Netflix gets the first chance to pick up their projects, but they can also take other ideas elsewhere.
She said, “It gives us flexibility. Our team has been developing both scripted and non-scripted content for different platforms.”
