NFL Commissioner Breaks Silence On Taylor Swift

NFL boss Roger Goodell says Taylor Swift has been a big boost for the league thanks to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. Swift’s huge fanbase, many of whom don’t usually watch football, has started tuning in, and Goodell says that’s been great for the NFL. He added that Swift herself admitted she didn’t really understand the game at first, but now she loves it, and her excitement has helped bring in younger fans.

“It’s great. She’s brought a great deal of attention obviously to the league and with her fanbase, which is a slightly different fanbase than the NFL, but it’s brought them into the game,” he said at Leaders Week London.

“As Taylor has said many times, ‘I came in not understanding the game as well as I should have, and I love it’.

“And to see her convert to a fan who really loves the game, yeah I think it’s a great thing for us, and so all those young fans that are coming in it’s a plus for the NFL.”

Swift and Kelce recently got engaged, and she has been at several of his games, including the last two Super Bowls. There were talks about her performing at the next Super Bowl halftime show, but the deal didn’t happen, and Bad Bunny was chosen instead.

Goodell made these comments in London ahead of the Browns vs. Vikings game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, one of three NFL games being played in the UK this month. He said the NFL might look at playing in more UK cities in the future, but a Super Bowl in London is not likely.

He explained that the Super Bowl brings in massive money for U.S. cities, like last year in New Orleans which made over a billion dollars. Because of that, the NFL wants to keep the Super Bowl in American cities where its teams are based.
