Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first joint public appearance since Harry’s recent meeting with King Charles III.
The couple surprised guests at the One805LIVE! benefit concert in Santa Barbara, an event that raises money for emergency equipment and mental wellness programs for local first responders. Meghan briefly joined Harry onstage before he presented an award to Santa Barbara County Fire Chief Mark Hartwig.
This appearance came soon after Harry’s private tea with King Charles on September 10 at Clarence House, their first meeting in over a year. Earlier that week, Harry had returned to the U.K. to support charities and to honor his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her death by laying flowers at her grave in Windsor.
The meeting between father and son is seen as a hopeful sign of reconciliation. For months, reports suggested that King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, had not been responding to Harry’s calls or letters. Harry has also been estranged from his brother, Prince William.
In May, Harry told the BBC he wanted to end the family conflict, saying there was no point in fighting and expressing concern for his father’s health.
