David Beckham recently shared a sweet and slightly embarrassing gesture for his daughter Harper, proving that even global superstars can be soft-hearted dads.
On Instagram, David posted a photo of a salad he made for Harper’s school snack, featuring a red pepper cut into the shape of a heart in the center of shredded greens. He wrote that he hoped the heart would not embarrass her now that she is 14.
David has always been open about his special bond with Harper. He once admitted he can never say no to her, recalling the only time he tried: her bottom lip started to tremble and he promised himself “never again.” Though Harper is close to both parents, David says she is equally a “mummy’s girl” and a “daddy’s girl,” something he treasures deeply.
Protective as ever, David has joked for years about keeping Harper away from boys. When she was just a toddler, he joked she would be like Rapunzel, “up in the tower,” and reminded everyone that she has three big brothers and a watchful dad ready to meet any future suitors.
Even as Harper grows up and experiences her first crushes, David’s protective streak remains. In 2022, when Harper mentioned a crush, he shared a black-and-white photo of himself looking serious, captioning it with mock anger but ending on a sweet note: “It’s ok, she said daddy you are my only valentine.”
Whether it is heart-shaped peppers or playful warnings to future boyfriends, David Beckham shows that being a loving dad is his favorite and sometimes most emotional role.
