David and Victoria Beckham have been accused of subtly mocking Meghan Markle and her new As Ever products, which include jam and marmalade.
The Beckhams were once close to Harry and Meghan, with Victoria even said to have shared her list of favorite stylists and hairdressers when Meghan first moved to London. But reports later claimed that Meghan suspected Victoria of leaking details of their friendship to the press. According to insiders, this led to a polite but awkward conversation between David Beckham and Prince Harry, with David left “mortified” by the suggestion.
Although the couples attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, their relationship has since cooled. Now, fans think David and Victoria’s latest jam-making video may have been a playful dig. In the clip, Victoria teased her husband’s homemade jam, dubbing it “Beckjam,” and joking about his new entrepreneurial streak.
Some saw the post as a nod not only to their son Brooklyn, who has also tried making jam, but also to Meghan’s fruit spread launch. A source told the Mail that Victoria’s humor may have been aimed at both: “Victoria has got a very wicked sense of humour. I think the jam video is aimed at Brooklyn, for sure. I think Victoria, in her voiceover, may also be having a pop at Meghan.”
Fans also piled on, suggesting David’s kitchen clip was more entertaining than Meghan’s recent Netflix series With Love. One person wrote that Beckham “spent an afternoon in his kitchen, cooked up some plum jam, and was infinitely more watchable than that With Love nonsense,” while another added that his jam had drawn more attention despite not even being for sale.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s website describes her raspberry spread as being “inspired by the recipe Meghan crafted in her home kitchen,” mixing the sweetness of raspberries with lemon, and designed to be drizzled, spread, or poured not just used on morning toast.
