Pop icon Britney Spears “is having an episode right now,” as per an insider of the Daily Mail in a story published on Monday, September 8th, following a series of alarming social media posts.
“And we are going to see her battle through it the way she has for years.”
Spears has long struggled with mental health issues, is “not doing well at all” and her loved ones are “terrified for her future,” another friend told the outlet.
The “Piece of Me” singer sparked recent concerns as she posted a video on Instagram on Monday, August 18th, that appeared to show piles of excrement in the background of her home, per Globe. “She isn’t functioning how a normal adult would function,” the friend told Daily Mail.
Spears, whose controversial 13-year conservatorship ended in 2021, has also posed nude and ranted about exes in recent posts.
And in July, a customs officer at LAX was caught on video saying she “didn’t take her meds,” according to body cam footage obtained by TMZ.
In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears mentioned taking the ADHD medication Adderall to help with her depression, according to the New York Times.
During the conservatorship, she added, “security guards handed me prepackaged envelopes of meds and watched me take them.”
Now, however, her loved ones aren’t making plans to intervene. “Those close to her have seen this over and over again,” the first insider told Daily Mail, calling it a “no win” situation because anyone who questions her autonomy is cut out of her life.
“As much as they want to help her, nobody can really do anything,” the first insider added. “It just ends up being a never-ending circle.”
