Madonna celebrated her 67th birthday in Italy with her much younger boyfriend, Akeem Morris, and two of her daughters. The “Vogue” singer shared a glimpse of her lavish birthday getaway in Siena on Instagram on Monday via Page Six.
To kick off the day, the Queen of Pop attended the Palio horse race, an event that has been held annually on her birthday, August 16, for the past 543 years.
“My Dream for many years has been to watch the Palio horse race in Sienna [sic] that takes place on my birthday, Aug. 16, since 1482!!” she explained in the caption of her post.
The event involves citizens from different districts in the Tuscan city challenging each other to a horse race in the Piazza del Campo. The event also unfolds every July 2nd.
“There are no words to describe the excitement, the suspense and the Pageantry!!” Madonna reflected. “A truly sacred ritual to witness thousands of people hushed to a silence before the race begins!”
She called the race “impossible to describe,” and expressed her gratitude in the native language, writing, “Grazie Mille! 🇮🇹🐎🐎🐎.”
“Dreams do come true!” she concluded, adding, “Happy Birthday to me!!! ♥️ Ciao Italia!”
For the race, Madonna donned a velvet purple cape and carried a chic paper fan as she watched from a balcony with her 29-year-old athlete boyfriend and two of her daughters: Lourdes, 28, and Mercy, 19.
Madonna also shared several other highlights from her birthday trip, including moments of dancing and indulgence.
In one instance, she was presented with a larger-than-life Labubu birthday cake iced out with the words, “Happy Birthday Madudu.”
In another, Madonna was seen going crazy as stunning fireworks exploded over a gorgeous Italian landscape.
Madonna and Morris were captured sweetly dancing together throughout their stay, with the former soccer player gracefully dipping the musical icon for all to see. Several A-list friends flooded the comments section of Madonna’s post to wish her a “Happy Birthday,” including Katy Perry, Andy Cohen and Rita Wilson.
