Mitchel Musso is firing back after Miley Cyrus claimed he smoked weed while filming Hannah Montana.Miley recently said on her podcast Sorry We’re Cyrus that both Mitchel and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, were smoking marijuana during the show’s filming. But Mitchel says that’s not how he remembers it.
“Well, that’s not how I remember it,” he told E! News on June 19. “But I have plenty of stories from that time too. If we’re talking about Hannah Montana memories—just say the word.”
Mitchel, who played Oliver from 2006 to 2011, ended his statement with a friendly note:
“All love to Miley and the fam, even when the rewrites get this creative.”
On the podcast episode, Miley was asked by her mom, Tish Cyrus, about a strong memory from her Hannah Montana days. Miley replied, “Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.” She also joked that her dad “wasn’t sharing.”
Tish admitted that she didn’t believe Billy Ray could have been the one smoking at the time. “They were calling me saying, ‘B. Ray was smoking pot,’ and I was like, ‘He would never do that.’”
Miley then claimed it wasn’t just her dad,she said, “It was Mitchel Musso. It was both.”
When E! News reached out to Billy Ray’s team, they had no comment.
Despite the drama, Miley has mostly spoken positively about her Hannah Montana days. In May, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she said she was proud of her fans, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community. She joked about Hannah Montana being like a drag queen for kids, saying Disney gays are more “fabulous,” while Nickelodeon gays are into “boogers and bro jokes.”
