Kanye West has shared his thoughts about Kid Cudi’s decision to testify against Sean “Diddy” Combs in his ongoing court case, and he’s not happy about it. In a tweet, Kanye said, “I wish Cudi hadn’t testified against Puff. We need to not be locked in white systems. Praying for Puff and his family.” His comments quickly got people talking online.
Diddy is currently on trial for serious charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held in jail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, testified in court on May 22, 2025. He talked about things that happened back in 2011, when he started dating Cassie Ventura—Diddy’s girlfriend at the time. Cudi said that after Diddy found out about their relationship, he broke into his home and later had someone throw a firebomb (a Molotov cocktail) at his car, which was parked outside. Cudi also described a scary encounter with Diddy, saying he acted like a “Marvel supervillain.”
After his testimony, Cudi thanked fans for their support on social media. “I’ve been seeing all the love and support,” he wrote. “Thank you so much, man… This is a stressful situation. I’m glad it’s behind me.”
Kanye’s comments suggest he thinks the legal system is unfair to Black celebrities and that Cudi shouldn’t have helped with the case. Some people online agreed with Kanye, while others said Cudi was brave for speaking out.
