Taylor Swift is no longer involved in the legal fight between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively because Baldoni’s team has dropped the subpoenas for her and her lawyers. They did this because they got the information they needed without her having to be forced to talk. Sources say this shows that Taylor’s role with the film in question was only about licensing a song, nothing more.
Taylor’s name came up a few times in the lawsuit, including in a text Blake Lively supposedly sent to Justin Baldoni. In that message, Blake compared Taylor and Ryan Reynolds to “protective dragons” and called herself the “Mother of Dragons,” a reference to Game of Thrones.
Taylor didn’t like that. A source close to her said she felt used by Blake because Blake showed up to a meeting without telling Taylor that Justin Baldoni would be there.
Taylor’s team has said she only had a small part in the film; she never went to the set or helped with casting or editing.
Blake Lively’s team said they supported Taylor’s side in getting the subpoenas dropped. They also said they will keep protecting anyone who is unfairly dragged into this case.
Justin Baldoni’s side wanted Taylor to be part of the legal fight, but when it went to court, they gave up.
Blake’s team also said they believe Baldoni’s team is using distractions like Taylor to avoid the real issues of sexual harassment and retaliation in the lawsuit.
Earlier this month, Taylor was asked to appear as a witness, but her team strongly opposed it.
Justin Baldoni’s lawyer said someone anonymously told him Blake tried to pressure Taylor to publicly support her, but this claim was removed from court records the next day.
