Cassie Ventura, who is eight months pregnant, gave emotional and tense testimony in court on Thursday. She was questioned for hours by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyer, Anna Estevao, about her past drug use, her relationship with Combs, and disturbing sexual encounters she says he forced her into. While Cassie stayed calm for most of the questioning, her answers got shorter and more tense as time went on.
One key moment came when the lawyer asked if Cassie had gone to a rehab center in 2017. Cassie said she had visited the Golden Door resort in California, but explained it was more of a luxury spa, not a rehab center. She also admitted she went to a real rehab center in Sedona, Arizona that same year, but said it didn’t help her long-term. After leaving that facility, she said she ended up back with Combs and took part in another one of what she called a “freak-off” , a drug-fueled group sex party.
Cassie said drugs were a big part of their relationship and that they often called each other “get high partners.” When asked if she saw the “freak-offs” as a special way to spend time with Combs, she quietly said “yes.” She explained that she became addicted to painkillers during their time together because they helped her feel numb after being part of those disturbing sex sessions.
One dramatic part of the testimony was when she talked about a night in 2012 when Combs overdosed on painkillers. She said it happened after they went to a sex club and then to a party at the Playboy Mansion. Combs later told her he took a very strong drug, and they had to take him to the hospital. When the lawyer asked if both she and Combs were addicted to drugs, Cassie replied, “Very much so.”
Even though Cassie stayed polite, she clearly became more uncomfortable during the questioning. When the lawyer suggested that she wasn’t Combs’ main girlfriend and that Kim Porter, the mother of his children, came first, Cassie gave a quick and short response: “mhmm.” She also said the messages the lawyer was reading in court didn’t show the full story, saying, “There’s a lot we skipped over.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to serious charges like sex trafficking and being part of a criminal group. If convicted, he could face life in prison. Cassie’s testimony, which includes upsetting details about their time together, is expected to be a key part of the trial.
