Jaime King is no longer part of Taylor Swift’s famous friend group, even though the pop star is the godmother of King’s youngest son, Leo.
A source told The US Sun that the two “don’t talk anymore,” but there is still love between them. However, Swift still sends Leo gifts for special occasions and would “be there in a heartbeat” if he ever needed her.
“Taylor has always taken her godmother role seriously and is very caring,” the source said. “But their relationship isn’t what it used to be when Jaime first asked Taylor to be Leo’s godmother.”
King, 45, and Swift, 35, became close friends after meeting at a Golden Globes party in 2014. Just a year later, King asked Swift to be Leo’s godmother. King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, even directed Swift’s 2015 Style music video.
The news of their falling out comes during a difficult time for King. In 2020, she filed for divorce from Newman after nearly 13 years of marriage. She also obtained a restraining order against him.
Newman later claimed King struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, even during pregnancy, leading to Leo being born with drug dependency. King and Newman share an 11-year-old son, James, along with Leo, 9. Since their split, Newman has had primary custody, and he recently gained sole physical custody of both children.
King was granted visitation rights, but she can only see her sons three times a week under supervision. This decision came after she failed to complete a court-ordered drug and alcohol program, parenting classes, and counseling.
