Coldplay Concert Leads To Illegal Tickets Lawsuit

Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing has summoned Ashish Hemrajani, the CEO of Big Tree Entertainment, which owns BookMyShow, as part of an investigation into alleged illegal sales of Coldplay concert tickets. This follows a complaint from Advocate Amit Vyas, who accused BookMyShow of misleading fans and helping with illegal ticket sales. With that said, Coldplay announced goodbye after their album.

Reports from ANI state that the EOW first sent a summons to Hemrajani and the company’s technical head on September 27, but they did not show up. Now, the police are requiring them to meet with the investigating officer and provide their statements about the allegations.

The complaint claims that BookMyShow has been involved in black market sales of tickets for the Coldplay concert, which is scheduled for January 19 to 21 at DY Patil Stadium. Vyas argues that the company misled the public and Coldplay fans by not revealing the true nature of the ticket sales, which led to inflated prices and unauthorized reselling of tickets.

In his complaint, Vyas wants to file a First Information Report (FIR) under various laws, including those related to organized crime, cheating, criminal conspiracy, and criminal breach of trust. He believes that the actions of BookMyShow not only harmed consumers but also damaged the fairness of the ticketing process for live events.

The situation has raised big concerns among fans who are eager to attend the Coldplay concert. With more people interested in attending such events, cases of ticket scalping and black market sales have become common, leading authorities to take action against companies that may be involved.

As the investigation continues, it is unclear how BookMyShow will respond to the accusations and what this might mean for the company’s business and reputation in the ticketing industry.
