Snowy White may know the way to work with Roger Waters. He detailed his experience of working with Waters during a conversation. The former Thin Lizzy guitarist talked about how he ‘drifted into’ Pink Floyd during his touring gig in 1977. He even addressed his time with Roger Waters and how one can avoid his ‘ferocious’ side.
It was an ultimate experience for those who have heard of Waters’ collection. White is a member of Waters’s band and it was his look and approach toward fame that changed things for the performer. He said that it helped him get more space and become a better member of the band.
White made it clear that Roger can go places in his mind that others can’t. He tries to keep a small group of people who think like him and are dedicated to the work. White said that he doesn’t understand all this fame thing because, after a long day or days of playing music, all he can remember is unplugging his shower in 10 minutes after he got home or back to his space. He said:
It’s because I really don’t care. With Pink Floyd, I didn’t even realize they were a particularly big band. I was quite narrow-minded. If it didn’t have a blues guitar solo in it, I didn’t listen. I was probably the only person in the U.K. who’d never heard Dark Side of the Moon. Somebody said their manager had been trying to get in touch and maybe I should call him. I didn’t bother. I just sort of drifted into the gig.
Snowy made it perfectly clear that Waters loves to have fun and if you are doing your job right and are a contributor rather than a liability then you will have fun with him. He likes to work with people who think well and are committed to the work they do.
Now, there may be many Roger haters too, but that doesn’t mean that Waters is not a ferocious man. Snowy said that he is ferocious only when you do something wrong. He is chilled on other occasions. It speaks a lot about a person whom people claim to be ferocious in his work.
