Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was once shocked when he was asked by someone what he does for a living. Obviously, with someone of his status – it’s easy to be blown away by such an odd question.
While at a bar, a young girl asked him ‘what do you do?’ which left the Manc star ‘gobsmacked’. Appearing on Absolute Radio’s Breakfast Show the other day, he recalled the shocking incident.
He said: “Somebody asked me in the Firehouse the other night, ‘what do you do?’ And I was like…I didn’t know what to say.” Presenter Dave Berry exclaimed: “Well what do you say to that, Noel?”
Surely, this was an ego blow as well to the star.
Noel continued: “Well, I didn’t know what to say because I’d never been asked before. I was like really…” before gesturing to his face. The girl then supposedly asked Noel what he does for a living, so he replied: “I change people’s lives for the better.”
The girl, still not understanding who he is, asked: “Oh, what – you’re in the medical profession?” To which Noel replied: “Of sorts.”
Talking about the interaction, via Manchester News, Noel said: “I was gobsmacked…I was like, ‘look, Google it, love…just put in ‘Noel Gallagher’.” He added: “Put in Liam Gallaher, you’ll probably see a picture of me.”
While he and his brother may not be close, he is quick to note him as a part of the past.
Noel is currently preparing for the release of his latest album with High Flying Birds, Council Skies, which is set to launch on June 2. The release will happen ahead of some summer live shows which will see Gallagher on stage at Wythenshawe Park on August 26.
The album will focus on his early and tough life.
He closed: “When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of that. Top of the Pops on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that’s what I think music should be.”
