In many a male actors mind they would love to play the lead character of Ian Flemming’s James Bond 007 role. We’ve discussed Rocky Miavia aka The Rock’s laughable bid to play the character, and a handful of other wannabe’s who likewise consider themselves worthy of the opportunity. Recently, a young man who stars in the Daredevil franchise has stepped out and discussed his prospects when it comes to the role. Here is what was said.
As per The News, Charlie Cox popular for his role Daredevil, detailed whether he would be interested in playing the role of James Bond.
Daniel Craig is the latest in the long list of actors who have taken the role of 007, with the actor’s debut in 2006 in the James Bond film Casino Royale.
Craig finally waved a much welcomed “goodbye” to the Bond series in last year’s No Time To Die, a film that earned mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. But then again, are these James Bond anything like the originals starring the likes of Sir Roger Moore? I don’t think so.
The film also marked a first for the Bond franchise, with Craig’s character dying in a hail of missile fire during the emotional climax. So, if James Bond is dead, how on earth can the franchise continue?
Now, after more than a year since the release of No Time To Die, fans are speculating who will be next to play the iconic British super spy.
In a recent interview with NME, Cox, who is playing an MI6 agent in Netflix’s upcoming Treason, explained whether he is open to the idea of playing 007. Why wouldn’t he be.
The answer is unfortunately disappointing for Cox’s fans, as it doesn’t sound like playing Bond is something he is interested in.
“The honest truth is that I think there are better candidates out there than me. The Bond itch has been scratched a little bit for me with Treason but also particularly by Daredevil. Playing a superhero is not so different.”
He further continued, ” I think they should do something different – and I think you know what I mean. It would be a really good time and opportunity to do that.”
Here is an actor who has his feet on the ground. He doesn’t want to play the role of Bond – whether because the title character perished in the last film, or because he is comfortable where he is. I will leave you to read between the lines.
