The former Oasis member Liam Gallagher recently talked about the fakers in rock ‘n’ roll genre. It’s been over half a century since rock ‘n’ roll got inducted into the unholy trinity that also includes “sex” & “drugs”, but the association still holds true. It has been noted that many rock stars tend to lead much cleaner lives nowadays – not least because a fair few of them are going on in years – some still bear the memory of their hard-partying days like a badge of honor.
Liam Gallagher says there are a lot of fakers
However, speaking to Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson in a recent interview, the Britpop icon Liam Gallagher suggests that a lot of them might be fakers. He explained that they have impeccable memory. As for himself, Liam admitted how years of getting hammered with all kinds of stuff make recollection a tricky thing, which is why he often tends to answer questions related to his younger days with “I don’t remember.”
Here is what he said:
“I don’t know. I mean, some people might remember, but, you know, there’s a lot of fakers out there, aren’t there? They’d be f***ing rock ‘n’ roll and big drug-takers and that, but they’re obviously sipping f***ing Lukozade and f***ing, you know, fruit pastilles.
“I got off my head in the ’90s; a lot of people with great memories from the ’90s, and I just think, ‘Well, were you really that rock ‘n’ roll mate?’
There’s lots of people, you get our kid [Noel Gallagher] for one, you know what I mean? They sit down, they can talk about the ’90s like that, for about four hours. Really? Was you on the f***ing Persians? I don’t think so. Mate, ’cause you’ve got a great memory, you know what I mean?
“So I can’t remember because I was getting high….All these rock stars doing books, mentioning all names and that. It’s like, I wouldn’t have a clue how to write a book, not because of the writing, but the memory and all that.
“And even Keith Richards, you know. Obviously, he’s done drugs, but then, oh man, they’re all full of sh*t.”
