A very odd video has recently surfaced featuring Damon Albarn and a fan. The video showcases Albarn at a recent event – we believe it to a be a show for the Gorillaz, and while he’s speaking, a fan starts kissing the knees of Damon Albarn.
If you didn’t think something like being a huge part of the Gorillaz and Blur could lead to biblical knee kissing, you would be very wrong. Yes, in a recent video surfaced through the power of Twitter, a fan was seen kissing the knee of Damon Albarn.
Quickly, the video became a meme, but not without it being shared heavily in its original form. It seems that this fan, along with many others are excited to see the Gorillaz back together and doing what they do best.
Albarn’s last solo album addressed a different place: Iceland, where he became a citizen last year, decades after his first visit in 1997. Full of slo-mo ballads that set Albarn’s tender croon amid shimmering instrumental textures, “The Nearer the Mountain, More Pure the Stream Flows” began when he convened a group of orchestral musicians at his home in Iceland in 2019 to “tune into the landscape” outside his living room window, as he put it.
Damon would say about the record recording process: “Somebody with a trombone would concentrate on a cloud going over the mountain. Someone else would play the waves.”
The album would ultimately fair well, but many fans would still be having a hole in their hearts for the Gorillaz. They would not have to wait too much longer though. The Gorillaz would slowly make a return which leads us to present day shows and tunes that are coming from the camp. How long will this last? Well, it’s hard to say, but the group are enjoying themselves once again, which is always great for the sake of longevity.
