Ed Sheeran has been a bit more out of the public eye than usual over the last year or so. While many felt that the star was taking time off from music, it seems that there was a deeper reason to this. A very sad reason.
Ed and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child in 2020. However, Sheeran recently revealed that his wife was diagnosed with a tumor last year while she was pregnant, which led to a lot of pain and sadness.
Ed stayed rather silent about this until it started to hit airwaves recently. According to a press release on Tuesday, the singer recalled that during her pregnancy with their second child in 2022, there was “no route to treatment until after the birth.” The Grammy award-winning artist did not reveal any further detail on his wife’s health scare.
As reported by Thirsty For News, Sheeran did, however, write about all of this within him music for his upcoming album. Even though Ed was off from music for a while, he was still working behind the scenes to create something out of the sad events that had taken place.
He stated about the year: “My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter.”
It’s obvious that he went through a lot while creating the album and he claims the album as a form of therapy for him.
He said: “I wrote without thought of what the songs would be, I just wrote whatever tumbled out. And in just over a week, I replaced a decade’s worth of work with my deepest darkest thoughts.”
