Ed Sheeran is a Pokémon fan since his childhood days. The legendary singer spoke about his fan approach with Sheeran on multiple occasions. Ed has also got a tattoo of Squirtle on his arm. He is elated to share the song with Pokémon as it brings back so many memories.
Ed remembers how he had Pokémon cards at age 7 and would record it on VHS weekly when the show hit television. He has fond memories of it with his brother. Sheeran says that he and his brother shared a Game Boy and Pokémon Blue. He remembers how he got a Pokémon Yellow for his 8th birthday and being obsessed would be an understatement for him.
He said at 31 years of age he still has the Game Boy Colour and he loves to play Pokémon Silver on long-haul flights because he loves it. It was a proper escape for a kid into a fantasy world, and a nostalgia that makes you feel like a kid again as you grow in life.
Sheeran said that he met the people from Pokémon during his Japan travel and he joked about writing a song for them, but dreams do come true. ‘Celestial’ comes out next Thursday and the video is captivating. It’s been animated by the excellent people at Pokémon. Ed believes that he loves it and so will everyone else, and we are going to catch them all.
Ed x @pokemon collaboration confirmed, we love to see it! ‘Celestial’ will be out September 29th ✨ https://t.co/rKOG5Thot1 pic.twitter.com/FzHJj7YO5k
