Blur frontman Damon Albarn recently got emotional onstage, with many speculating his tears were due to his split from his partner of 25 years, Suzi Winstanley. The couple, who share 23-year-old daughter Missy, have reportedly gone their separate ways. It was reported Suzi Winstanley was seen for the first time since split from Blur frontman Damon Albarn after 25 years together.
Songs on Blur’s new album The Ballad of Darren are said to be about the end of frontman Damon Albarn’s 25-year relationship with his partner Suzi Winstanley. The album, released earlier this month, was written as the pair decided to call off their decades-long romance. It was revealed over the weekend that 55-year-old Damon and his artist ex, also 55, had gone their separate ways via Metro.
According to MailOnline, Suzi ‘can’t bear’ to listen to the album as she finds it ‘too sad’ and is ‘shocked’ her ex even wrote about their relationship.
A source told the paper: ‘Suzi can’t listen to the album, it’s too sad for her. She was shocked to learn quite how deeply he wrote about their relationship. Apparently, she had no idea.
‘Some of the songs are very emotional for Damon, they were written at a time when he wasn’t in the best of places, at a time when he wasn’t happy.’
One song in particular, named Goodbye Albert, includes the lyrics: ‘Goodbye to you and me, goodbye to the shallows like refugees singing, crossed the world, we disappeared, and no one looks to see if we are coming back soon, I was not ready yet.’
The outlet also reported that Suzi had asked Damon to leave their Notting Hill home.
