The Gorillaz were a pretty big deal in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I recall a song of theirs that featured the lead singer of Blur – another band who are making a comeback with new tour dates this year. Yes, the Gorillaz have spanned two continents and are a pretty big deal to those within the music industry. Today we are learning about one of the band’s collaborations, and how and or if it might ever happen.
According to DIY, From classics like ‘Feel Good Inc.’ and ‘Clint Eastwood’ to recent singles with Tame Impala and Thundercat, Gorillaz know what goes into making a game-changing collaboration.
In our recently-released February 2023 issue, we’re looking back and celebrating some of the project’s most inspired pairings from across the years, with Damon Albarn himself offering up some words of wisdom on choosing artistic partners.
“What’s great about working with collaborators is that it’s a process that never repeats itself, a perpetual experiment if you like,” the mastermind told DIY. “Is there a method? No, not really – just being open to joy.”
Gorillaz are going to release their new album ‘Cracker Island’ on 24th February, the year of our Lord 2023, via Parlophone, and it is scheduled to feature collaborations with the Albarn, Tame Impala, Thundercat, Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny and Beck. What a lineup.
