Sad news for Blur fans as it looks like it is very unlikely that the band will be showing up and rocking out at Glastonbury. Originally reported by The Festivals, Blur were set to be in Glastonbury this summer, but it’s now looking unlikely that the band will be there after drummer Dave Rowntree said: “No one, as far as I know, from Glastonbury has approached us.”
Now, that’s really hard to say that the above is just a rumor when it came straight from Dave himself. Blur previously announced a show at Wembley Stadium on July 8th, which falls close to Glastonbury’s dates (June 21st-25th), and it was also been confirmed that the band will be playing other festivals this, including Primavera Sound in Spain on June 1st and a Dublin gig on June 24th.
This would then put them nearby during the rest of Glastonbury weekend.
Dave then added with what he had said above: “You can’t play Wembley and Glastonbury, can you? Wouldn’t that be a bit off?”
This is really tough news for anyone who wanted to see Blur take the stage and really put on a wonderful show in Glastonbury, but as of now we can go two directions with this. We can take it as it is and chalk this one up to a lost cause, or we can put some positivity into it and hope that maybe this is some kind of swerve to throw all of us off before Blur announces some kind of show at Glastonbury.
Of course, we can only say so much and assume so much before going a bit ahead of ourselves, but we do truly hope that everyone gets to see the band live and in person.
