Actor Nathan Lane made a sarcastic claim that he’s the new James Bond. The actor said this in a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, Screen Rant reports.
Lane is known for his work in theater and film, and recently revealed that the Bond producers want to take the franchise in a “more mature direction” and have chosen him to take on the iconic role.
The Bond franchise, based on the novels by Ian Fleming, first premiered in the 1960s with Sean Connery as the first actor to play the suave secret agent. Since then, the role has been passed down to actors such as Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig, who played Bond in the most recent film, No Time to Die. The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and itended with Bond’s death, which is a first for the franchise.
In his interview with Colbert, Lane revealed the plot of his geriatric 007 film, titled “Octogenarianpussy” or “The Spy Who Loved Metamucil.” According to Lane, the film follows Bond, now at retirement age, living in a country manor house with his wife Pussy Galore, whose real name is Mildred Lefkowitz. Bond gets a job in customer service at the local Home Depot, and that’s when things start to get wild. The film includes scenes where Bond forgets his Apple ID and goes to the Genius Bar, and a powerful scene at Rite Aid where he asks the pharmacist for help with his eczema.
If it was not clear, Lane’s claim is a joke, as the search for the next Bond actor is still ongoing. Idris Elba has been a top choice for the role for years, but the actor recently stated that playing Bond is not something that will satisfy his personal goals. Even if he was interested, Elba is now too old to play the role, as franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have stated that they’re looking for an actor who can make a 10 to 12-year commitment to the franchise.
