The demand for Harry Styles is everywhere! The former One Direction star, teen heartthrob, and pop sensation certainly cannot be denied as his latest studio album ‘Harry’s House’ has been rising up the charts since its release earlier this year. Of course, there was unquestionably little doubt about this as the album saw a career-best in first-week sales for Styles.
The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 113,000 album-equivalent units, becoming the fastest-selling album of 2022 in the country. It also debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 521,500 album-equivalent units, including 330,000 album sales, making it the largest opening week of 2022 in the United States. The demand goes beyond just his current album however as more and more people are looking to see Styles perform live. This was the case as English pop singer, DJ, and television star Kim Wilde recently made a plea for the ‘As It Was’ singer to play at the acclaimed and established Glastonbury Festival. The Glastonbury festival is a five-day festival that takes place in Pitton, Somerset, England. Outside of music, the festival also hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts.
Wilde, best known for her 1981 single “Kids in America” stated the following in a recent piece with Best UK: “Well I do think he’s very cute. I have to stay. “He’s like a breath of fresh air. I love his voice; I love his fashion style. “So yes, I have a wee crush on Harry. He should play Glastonbury next year.” To her credit, Wilde is still active in music and has sold over 10 million albums and 20 million singles. She holds the record for being the most-charted British female solo act of the 1980s, with seventeen UK Top 40 hit singles.
