Miles Kane has certainly made an impact on the music business since he burst onto the scene with the fantastic last shadow puppets in 2007 (a critically acclaimed collaboration with long time friend Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys). He then moved on to release his fabulous debut album ‘Colour Of The Trap’. The album, inspired by mod themes of the 1960′s reached an impressive number 11 on the U.K album chart. He then followed this up this year with his second album ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ which propelled his career to new heights. ’Don’t Forget Who You Are’ reached number 8 in the UK album chart and featured guest artists such as The Modfather Paul Weller and Arctic Monkeys lead singer/guitarist Alex Turner. Here are the three songs which define Miles Kane directly of his first two solo albums.
1. Come Closer- the opening track on ‘Colour Of The Trap’ is a real jackhammer of a tune. A catchy chorus, a swinging 60s vibe and not to mention a killer guitar solo. You here this song, you know its Miles Kane. This song reached 85 on the U.K singles chart, the best Miles has ever achieved in the form of a single in his solo career.
2. Give Up- the first single directly off the second album ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ manages to blend 70′s glam rock vibes with a dashing of 80′s stadium rock. Believe me, this song means business from the start.
3. Rearrange- the third and final single released form Colour Of The Trap is a real elegant tune. With the use of a tremolo echo effect, Miles manages to create a masterful riff to accompany the catchy chorus and the modern, ‘out there’ vibe.
