In the wake of Beady Eye’s announced split, shoegazers Ride have confirmed that they will be reforming to play their first shows in twenty years. The classic Creation Records group announced that they will have their first live performances in May 2015, culminating in a headline appearance at London’s Field Day festival on Sunday, June 7.
Though the band did not comment on their upcoming reunion, they did release a statement containing two quotations:
‘Your first band is like your first love; you never forget it, and you never feel quite the same way about any other band.’ – David Crosby
‘In noise can be read the codes of life, the relations among men. Clamour, Melody, Dissonance, Harmony; when it is fashioned by man with specific tools, when it invades man’s time, when it becomes sound, noise is the source of the purpose and power, of the dream – Music.’ – French economist, Jacques Attali
Rumors of a Ride reunion began to circulate when Creation Records posted a photo of a giant poster bearing the name of the band.
