British rock fans, if you don’t know Pusher, there’s no better time to get on board. Following the release of their debut EP earlier this year, the Barnsley five-piece have just released a new song – and it’s brilliant.
Here She Comes sounds like movement in a dark alley. An ominous guitar riff treads lightly over a suffocating bass line and beat. Soon, frontman James Gilroy’s low and brooding voice steps forward to accompany the song’s atmospheric shroud. “There’s a demon lurking inside your head,” he sings. Dark and moody, the song crouches low in the shadows before running headlong into a void and at once rising into a shimmering and melodic Hawley-esque instrumental bridge. From here, Here She Comes steps in and out of the dark and light, marrying the heavy and light with a masterful confidence and wonderfully subtle touch.
