With Christmas on the way it’s inevitable that you will indulge in too much food, too much drink, and too much TV, the party season is truly an excuse to enjoy and spend time with friends and family. These days, it’s becoming more and more acceptable to go away for Christmas, maybe to a beach resort, to spend the big day in the sun, with a BBQ lunch instead of turkey and the trimmings, or to a log cabin in the snow, for a truly wintery experience.
However you decide to spend the festive season, there are some fantastic deals to Christmas markets before the day itself, and they’re often in beautiful surroundings, such as Germany, Prague and Austria. A great idea for a long weekend, or just a few days mid-week, you won’t break the bank with low cost airlines heading to these destinations, and accommodation is plentiful.
Think fairy lights, music, snow, roast chestnuts and mince pies – truly a special experience.
It might sound like an unaffordable luxury prior to the expense of Christmas but you can always find things to help cut the cost, like airport parking and staying in hostels instead of hotels. If you do your Christmas shopping whilst you’re there. you are guaranteed to get lots of gifts that are different to what people normally expect and go with a few friends to make your pre-Christmas meet up was that extra bit special.
For magic and sparkle, this is a fantastic choice, and as I mentioned, costs can be cut even further when you factor in how to get to the airport. Forget expensive taxis, unreliable trains and buses, and think about driving yourself to the airport, meaning more convenience, no need to get up mega-early, and saved pennies, which is much better spent on mulled wine and presents. You’ll find parking services at all large UK airports, with great prices to be had. I’ve used airport parking at Manchester Airport before and the service was fantastic, not to mention the price. You can find a greater range of flights in the capital, so make sure you check it out before you fly, and there’s no excuse not to save.
A festive getaway really adds extra sparkle to an already special time, but it doesn’t have to be shopping at Christmas markets, or BBQs on the beach, why not treat your special someone to a pre-Christmas getaway to throw in some extra romance for December? The options are endless!
Altogether now, Christmas time, mistletoe and wine…
