Let’s Relive The Smiths’ Final Concert

Where were you on December 12, 1986? If you were lucky enough, you might have been present at an Artists Against Apartheid benefit show at London’s Brixton Academy. This is a concert that has gone down in history because it was the last time that Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce graced a stage together. While there didn’t appear to be any tension between the bandmates, they would remain together for less than a year. The set list is filled with all the favorites that you would desire and a few notable additions. This concert was to be the first and last time ‘Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others’ and, from their yet unreleased single, ‘Shoplifters Of The World Unite’ would be performed live by the Smiths. By the last song, the band came full circle by taking their final bow to their debut single, ‘Hand In Glove.’ So, grab ‘two light ales’ and enjoy their final concert in its entirety.

Britpopping since I first heard 'Animal Nitrate' in 1993
