Here Are 5 Great Arctic Monkeys Songs

Whether you’re a long-time fan, or just discovering the greatness of Alex Turner and crew, here are five great Arctic Monkeys songs. Not ranked or necessarily our top five, just a solid selection for your listening pleasure.

505 – My Favourite Worst Nightmare

I love how this song starts out slow and simple, and builds to a passionate explosion of vocals and music. A great way to close out the (stellar) album.

Crying Lightning – Humbug

Clever lyrics here (as usual for Turner). Humbug is an underrated album, in my opinion, and a bit darker than the previous records. Silly video, though.

She’s Thunderstorms – Suck It and See

Suck It and See is by far the most mature offering from Arctic Monkeys. I remember buying the album, hearing this opening track, and instantly knowing that it was a winner.

The Afternoon’s Hat – My Propeller B-side

Released on the My Propeller 10″ EP. It’s amazing when bands can write B-sides that are good enough to be album tracks.

Teddy Picker – My Favourite Worst Nightmare

Good, classic Arctic Monkeys. This type of energetic, fun music and Turner’s witty lyrics boosted them to success with their first album, but I think they refined their sound on the second. This is one of those great “sing along in the car at top volume” songs.
