It’s been a while since I’ve professed my love for the song “Cornerstone” by Arctic Monkeys, so I think we’re due. Not only do I think this is one of the band’s best and most timeless, the video is pretty freaking adorable.

I love the simplicity of the video — bare wall, single fixed camera, alone with Alex Turner — set against such an uncomplicated song. No frills, no showing off, just getting to the heart of the matter. It really is a lovely song and I think the meaning behind it is so much more powerful than the lyrical acrobatics Turner sometimes pulls out (don’t get me wrong, I love that stuff too).

Two more things: Alex’s hair in the video is perfection, and I love his cheeky looks and gestures. I’ll check my fangirl at the door now.
