March 2013 is going to be one hell of an awesome month for fans of British music and kindred spirits. We’ve got new Suede, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club albums to look forward to. So what do we know about them?
Suede’s Bloodsports – their first new studio release since the ill-fated A New Morning in 2002 – drops on 18 March. So far, we’ve heard the album’s first track “Barriers.” What do you think?
David Bowie’s The Next Day – the thin white duke’s 24th studio album – drops on 8 March. We were all surprised when he released the video for the album’s first single “Where Are We Now” earlier this month.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is not a British band but the San Francisco natives are certainly kindred spirits. Their earlier releases were heavily influenced by bands like the Jesus and Mary Chain and Ride (they even once performed “Leave Them All Behind” with Mark Gardener!). The band’s seventh studio album Specter At the Feast drops on 8 March. The first single “Let the Day Begin” premiered only days ago.
Depeche Mode’s Delta Machine drops 26 March and so far, there are only fake “demos” of its first single “Heaven” floating around the internet. Watch Britpop News on February 1 when we will surely post the song!
