By now you’ve surely heard that Britpop News favorites, Suede, will be awarded the honorable NME Godlike Genius Award. Past recipients include Noel Gallagher, naturally, as well as Paul Weller, Primal Scream, and New Order. We must say, the crown fits.
Suede are noted as having kick-started the Britpop movement, helping to take it from an indie genre to a massive global tidal wave of music, fashion, art, and attitude.
Of the award, frontman Brett Anderson commented: “It’s wonderful to be recognised, and it’s great for us having been through lots of ups and downs in our career. It’s been a real rollercoaster ride of extreme highs and lows, so to be honoured in this way 25 years after we got together is lovely, really.”
