It’s been said that Palma Violets are the band that’s going to save British music (and here I thought that was Arctic Monkeys). Usually so much hype ultimately leads to a let down, but we admit that we’re excited to hear the debut album by Palma Violets. Their first single “Best of Friends” is really quite good. It’s got the Clash’s raw garage rock feel, Ian Curtis-like vocals, and youthful confidence that was heard on Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. Will they have the same success and longevity of the Clash or Arctic Monkeys? Only time, and the full album, will tell. We’ll be back after February 25, when their debut album 180 is released, to report on whether our excitement was deserved.
In the meantime, here are some videos to tide you over. Are you digging their sound?
