I just returned from a week-long jaunt in London. While there, I went to quite a few gigs (including Suede at the Alexandra Palace — that show goes into my top 5 best concerts ever!). On March 28, I found myself at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen catching a show featuring three bands: Frida Sundemo (Swedish Robyn-style electro pop), Of Verona (L.A. band that I can only describe as post-Evanescence) and the UK-based F.U.R.S. I didn’t know any of these bands going into the show, but I was incredibly impressed by F.U.R.S.’ set. This female-fronted three-piece blends the best bits of ’60s surf rock, garage rock and the Raveonettes’ retro-pop. Their debut album, Striptease, dropped on March 25. If you’re into ’60s-style guitar pop, check out F.U.R.S.
